July 15-19, 2015 - Horse highlights

Midwestern equestrians are lining up for lots of mid-July horse-related fun and competitions. Popular equine events for the week include barrel racing, bull riding events, cross country schooling, cutting horse competitions, dressage shows, equine breed shows, gymkhanas and fun shows, horse training clinics, horse-related fundraisers, hunter-jumper competitions, open shows, ranch horse shows, rodeos, saddle fit clinics, and more.

In many cases, advance sign-ups, enrollments, stall deposits, registrations, vendor contracts, and other arrangements are needed for equine events. Current negative Coggins test results and veterinary certificates are required for traveling horses – particularly if equines cross state lines. Horse show, training clinic, and other equine event hosts may block entry to horses arriving on their properties without appropriate documentation. Haulers and horse owners are urged to investigate such requirements before going.

Late changes or cancellations are always a possibility with equestrian events. Auditors, horse owners, riders, trainers, volunteers, vendors, spectators, and others are wise to double-check Upper Midwest horse happening details before going.
