June 22-28, 2015 - Horse highlights

June’s final full week brings fun, festivities, and fortune for Midwestern equestrians. Upper Midwest horse highlights for the last full week of June (and the first week of summer) include barrel racing, breed shows, dressage shows, equestrian performances, fun and game shows, horse training clinics, hunter/jumper competitions, open arena sessions, open shows, rodeos, and lots more.

The week’s equestrian events are listed chronologically for quick reference.

This listing is not exhaustive, although it is aimed at including as many Upper Midwestern equestrian events as possible for the specified period. Show bills and additional information may be obtained directly from event hosts or organizers.

Enrollments, registrations, sign-ups, stall deposits, and other arrangements are required in advance for most of these equine events. Current negative Coggins test results and veterinary certificates are musts for traveling horses – particularly if equines cross state lines. Horse show, training clinic, and other equine event hosts may choose to block entry to horses arriving on their premises without appropriate documentation. Haulers and horse owners are urged to look into  requirements ahead of time.

Changes or cancellations sometimes occur with equestrian events. For this reason, riders, trainers, horse owners, auditors, spectators, vendors, volunteers, and others are exhorted to confirm details for their chosen Upper Midwest horse happenings before going.
