June 29-July 5, 2015 - Horse highlights

With the Independence Day weekend on deck, Midwestern equestrians are fired up about tons of horse happenings this week. The holiday week brings such exciting equine attractions as barrel races, breed shows, dressage shows, driving competitions, fun shows, hunter/jumper competitions, open shows, pleasure shows, rodeos, speed shows, training clinics, and more.

Equestrian events for the week are listed chronologically for easy reference.

This listing is not exhaustive, although it is aimed at including as many Upper Midwestern equestrian events as possible for the specified period. Show bills and additional information may be obtained directly from event hosts or organizers.

Sign-ups, enrollments, stall deposits, registrations, vendor contracts, and other arrangements are required in advance for most of these equine events. Current negative Coggins test results and veterinary certificates are musts for traveling horses – particularly if equines cross state lines. Horse show, training clinic, and other equine event hosts may choose to bar entry to horses arriving on their properties without appropriate documentation. Haulers and horse owners do well to look into requirements ahead of time.

Event changes or cancellations are always possible with equestrian events – even in the summertime. Auditors, spectators, horse owners, riders, trainers, vendors, volunteers, and others are urged to confirm Upper Midwest horse happening details before going.
